Stretched over an impressive 2 acres, the renovated barn is a clear vision of luxury. Consisting of 3 wings that enjoy extensive views of a central courtyard, the home is complete with a full outdoor entertainment area, a cinema and games room as well as a separate annex for family visits.

Duncan Mccuaig and his wife purchased the derelict barn in March 2015 and commenced work immediately. The pair were no strangers to this kind of project, and after 15 long and challenging months the Mccuaigs were able move into their new home ready for summer.

Being a listed building, the Mccuaigs were restricted to timber when specifying materials for their windows and doors. However with timber being the pairs preferred choice anyway this didn't cause any issues with regards to the commencement of the project. As well as meeting material restrictions it was imperative that the character of the property was maintained through the preservation of original openings, therefore leaving requirements for bespoke joinery. The Mccuaigs were introduced to PDS through their local merchant as experts in bespoke and made to measure timber joinery. After witnessing the standard of bespoke joinery PDS offer, they were so impressed that they sought out to make an order for joinery across the entire property.

PDS supplied a range of beautifully bespoke products finished in a Dark Satin paint with contemporary black furniture. The products supplied included Mortice and Tennon arched top Doorsets, arched French Doorsets and a range of Casement Windows all made to fit the original openings of the historical property. There was no doubt that each and every one of the products supplied boasted an impressive level of craftsmanship, however the star of the show was undoubtedly the 2 storey French Doorset and Arched Top Feature Screen. This proudly sits in the well-appointed kitchen and living area at the front of the property.

Inspired by our English Country trend, the styling of the property includes elements of a traditional country home, however the neutral colour scheme and selective décor pieces strategically positioned throughout brought the home into the correct era whilst also distracting from, and soften the rustic nature of the barn.

Finally settled and happy in their new and beautiful home, Duncan Mccuaig commented ‘We are really happy with the quality of our windows and doors and would certainly use PDS again as well as recommending to others'.
