Simon Danczuk, Rochdale MP visit

newsFollowing PDS’ continuous success over the past twelve years Simon Danczuk, Rochdale MP visits for discussion on the pressures facing SME in the manufacturing industry.

PDS was formed in 2003 to service the construction industry with purpose made GRP doorsets. Since then it has grown massively in size and revenue in spite of the unfortunate circumstances the recession has had on many other companies. Starting out in a small industrial unit on the outskirts of Rochdale PDS quickly outgrew this location and is currently situated in a 90,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Littleborough which is quickly becoming too small for the vast rate of growth they are experiencing.
Currently employing over 150 people and with the view to taking on ten new apprentices in the near future, PDS are one of the largest employers in the area. Following all PDS’ successes in the past years Managing Director Tim Fairley saw it fitting to invite Local MP Simon Danczuk in, not only to see PDS as a company and the work they do but to also discuss the pressures placed on small businesses investing in apprentices. With recent governmental changes in legislation surrounding apprenticeship funding, the incentives to invest in youth for the future have been greatly reduced. For companies such as PDS who have had much success from these schemes in the past, this is a source of great frustrations.

During Mr Danczuk’s Visit to PDS on 16th January 2015 he made the following comments.
“PDS as very important employers in the area. They are making a real contribution to the local economy and are continuously increasing the number of jobs in and around Littleborough. I was very impressed by the business and am sure it will go from strength to strength and I look forward to helping and supporting them in the months and years ahead.”
